As of August 2018 the State of California has changed the requirements of the Prop 65 law. We now must list on our website any possible chemicals the can cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive problem.
As an example:
ABS plastic contains styrene
PVC wire insulation can contain Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP)
electrolytic capacitors can contain Ethylene glycol
Brass can contain Lead
flame retardant pc boards can contain Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA)
Aluminum alloys can contain Chromium
To put it simply we are a small company and do not have the resources to test every single part, so we list every thing as hazardous. Please recycle all electronic parts responsibly and under no circumstance eat, drink or smoke these parts and wash your hands after touching!
I purchased a small number of these stepper motors. I am happy with them. These are Bi-Polar stepper motors, with 2 phase coils, for a total of 4 wires. There is one extra 5th wire, but is a chassis ground wire. Thus, this is not a Uni-Polar stepper motor as advertised, where you generally have 2 coils with a center tap on each coil 6-wire stepper. By the way, the gear attached to this stepper motor matches up perfectly, pitchwise, with VEX Robotics type plastic gears. I sort of bought these for use with VEX projects. You will need to build a high voltage bi-polar motor controller that can output 56V, or run these motors with perhaps 48 volts that most MPJA stepper motor controllers can handle at maximum.
