All test OK
I measured the forward drop with a Fluke diode test of the lot to vary from .25 to .28 volt. Most were at the lower end. The only thing strange to me is that the color band is on the anode end. Should be fine for any typical projects that would use this type of diode. Good deal, heck it is not 1972, you cant walk into the famous radio franchise anymore and buy a blister pack full of these.

This is definitely a GE diode, not SI.
Folks taking issue with the <1 volt fwd voltage drop can relax, this rating is the maximum drop this diode can have before it blows out from excessive current. Since these diodes are normally used for detecting tiny, itty-bitty signals with current in the microamp range the voltage drop will not exceed the 0.3V range. I purchased a bunch of them and they work great. 1N914 diodes are SI, do not have a whisker and therefore are not point-contact diodes.

1N34 Equivalent
The whisker is like that in 1N34 diodes. The marking looks like some of the Russian Ge diodes Ive tested. They should work fine.

Germanium indeed
Put my meter on these and their forward voltage is .3v, about where it should be. Definitely warmer than silicon. I used two of these in series to replace a zener used in the clipping stage of a pedal and they work very nice. Not sure what issue previous reviewer had, but these are 1N34A Germanium diodes.

Datasheet spec is at a fairly high forward voltage
In response to the review which is critical of a 1 volt forward rating. Review the datasheets- the 1N34 is specified at a fairly high forward current. The actual operating current for RF detectors is orders of magnitude smaller. This part is very likely a 1N34A as advertised.

1N34A Detector Diode
This is not a Germanium diode if the forward voltage drop is only <1V. A germnanium diode has a nominal voltage drop of 0.3V. The picture looks more like a silicon diode i.e. 1N914 which has a nominal voltage drop of 0.7V.
