I just set this up to remotely open and close a dust collection blast gate at my table saw. I used a DC gear motor with lead screw and its working perfectly in this application. Important tip: When programming the remote, tap the LEARN button a very quick dit. Do the same with the remotes 3 buttons. Then tap LEARN button again to complete programming. It was frustrating initially, as I was pressing the buttons too long and the programming kept failing.
