A great booster with some caveats
Works well. Idle current 16mA at 12Vin. D3 is input polarity protection. Bypassing it improves efficiency. Actual current capability is in the range of 2 to 3A. Beware: If Vin<4V, Vout can shoot up to 50V when unloaded [with Vout set to 17V].

over-rated, poor regulation
This unit was adequate for my purpose, which was a laptop computer power supply nominal 12VDC in, 15.6VDC out, instead of 120VAC in. But the voltage regulation is very poor under varying load, even within claimed power capability. Tested with 6Ω load and 4Ω load when set to 15.6V out, with 12V in, I find that it is capable of only about 2.5A out.

Works great as a switching regulator board, have had no problems getting the module to run.
