||Programming the Arduino Mini Pro
|This device was recognized by Ubuntu 12.04, showing up as a serial port, no need to install drivers. Unfortunately, to program an Arduino Mini Pro or the Pro Mini clone from MPJA does not work the way youd expect it to, but there are a couple of simple workarounds you can employ.
Wire things up as: CP2102 5V to Arduino Vcc, CP2102 RXD to Arduino TXI, CP2102 TXD to Arduino RXI, GND to GND.
Note that the CP2102 RST is not used, it is actually the reset input to the CP2102, not the reset output to the Arduino. Without this signal, you need to manually reset the Arduino when you upload. To do this you have to click the Arduino IDE upload button and the Mini Pro reset button simultaneously in order to upload your sketch. Sometimes you have to try a few times since the timing has to be just right.
An alternative workaround is to connect the CP2102 DST pin to the Mini Pro RST pin, but you have to add an inline 0.1uF capacitor.
The RST problem seems to be endemic to CP2102-based Arduino programmers so Im not going to ding MPJA for it, its a solid product at a very reasonable price.|
